This Thursday, the people of Uganda head to the polls to elect a president. The principal contenders in the first multi-party elections in two decades are Kizza Besigye and the current president, Yoweri Museveni. In a post-Amin, post-Obote Uganda, Museveni has done much good for his country. The past few years, however, give one pause to wonder what the future may hold. Columnist Gwynne Dyer comments on the situation here.Meanwhile, the insane war in the north, carried on by the Lord’s Resistance Army, continues. May God grant peace to this beautiful country–most especially to its children.
